Rabia Tanweer is an early career professional with experience working in economic empowerment, food and water security, governance, monitoring and evaluation, and education in the contexts of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

At Results for Development (R4D), Ms. Tanweer is a program associate on the education team working on the EdTech Hub, a global research partnership that seeks to empower people to make informed decisions about technology in education. In this role, she serves as a learning lead, working with implementing partners in Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, and Kenya to collect and utilize data to iterate on project design.

Before joining R4D, Ms. Tanweer interned with R4D’s evaluation and adaptive learning team and the Leveraging Transparency to Reduce Corruption (LTRC) project. She also interned with other organizations such as the Near East Foundation and Aythos, supporting business development, operations, communications, and monitoring and evaluation.

Ms. Tanweer holds a BA and MA in international relations from Syracuse University.

Dr. Eric Djimeu Wouabe is an economist with more than a decade of experience designing, conducting, supervising, and disseminating evaluations of development programs in health, education, nutrition, infrastructures and agriculture in Africa and Asia.

Dr. Djimeu is an associate director in evaluation and adaptive learning at Results for Development (R4D) where he leads innovative monitoring, evaluation, research and learning approaches to improve the performance of health, education, and nutrition systems. He leads the Rapid Feedback Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning (RF MERL) project in Mali and supports monitoring evaluation learning activities (MEL) for the HSS Accelerator, a global USAID-funded health system strengthening program. In addition, he collaborates with other programs and lines of work at R4D.

Dr. Djimeu’s career has focused on generating and adapting evidence to enhance performance of social development outcomes. Prior to R4D, Dr. Djimeu worked at GAIN as a senior technical evaluation specialist where he set up a system for conducting evaluations and led the evaluation of major nutrition programs. Prior to GAIN, he worked at 3ie where he designed and led seven research projects on HIV self-testing in Kenya and six impact evaluations. He has promoted evidence generation and their use in designing interventions to enhance effectiveness of programs across different sectors including nutrition, health, education, infrastructure, and agriculture. He has conducted capacity building activities to train young researchers, policymakers and stakeholders in evaluation methods and techniques and the use of evidence to inform policies.

Dr. Djimeu has published more than two dozen journal articles. His research spans multiple specialties, including impact evaluations, empirical methodologies, replication research, evidence review, cost effectiveness analysis, and macroeconomic analysis. He holds a PhD and master’s degree in economics from the University of Auvergne Clermont-Ferrand I in France and a BA in economics from University of Yaoundé II. He is native speaker of Ghomala and French and speaks fluent English.

Natalie Wyss is an international education specialist with over 5 years of experience in equity-oriented health and education research. As a program associate in Results for Development’s (R4D) global education practice, she is part of the engagement team for the EdTech Hub supporting helpdesk management and offering evidence-based assistance to global education leaders and practitioners.

Ms. Wyss has spent her career focused on mitigating inequality. She started at the UC San Diego Center on Gender Equity and Health supporting research on early marriage, reproductive health, and health education. She later transitioned to research focusing on gender and girls’ education, climate change education, teacher practice, and international education policy. She has also supported gender equity and education research at the Brookings Institution, CARE International, and the Population Council.

Ms. Wyss got her master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s department of educational policy studies where she concentrated in comparative and international education. Her graduate training included a specialization in education-focused qualitative methods. She also has a BA in global health from the University of California, San Diego.

Marian Opoku-Agyeman is a public health professional with over seven years of experience in project management, family planning, HIV/AIDS, and emergency response. Her work includes strengthening community health systems and providing technical and operational support to Ghana’s COVID 19 response.

At Results for Development (R4D), Ms. Opoku-Agyeman is a program officer on the Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator project. She supports the work of the HSSA in Ghana by developing technical tools, concept notes, briefing materials, and other products as well as engaging stakeholders, planning and implementing activities.

Before joining R4D, Ms. Opoku-Agyeman consulted for the HSSA project, facilitating its support to Ghana’s COVID 19 response. She coordinated advisory cells formed by the presidential coordinator of the program, facilitated meetings with stakeholders, conducted research and developed briefing notes.

Ms. Opoku-Agyeman started her career in program coordination, generating data and reports for monitoring and evaluation. After completing her graduate studies, she helped implement a project on HIV. She has volunteered for the women’s mentorship program of Vital Voices in Ghana. She has also volunteered in to promote reproductive and sexual health among Ghanaian teenagers.

Ms. Opoku-Agyeman holds a master’s degree in public health from Umeå University in Sweden, and a BSc in biological sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She speaks fluent English, and is a native speaker of Twi, the Ghanaian language.

The 2021 annual meeting of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) takes place virtually from April 25 – May 2. Organizers are anticipating a vibrant engagement of researchers, students, practitioners, and policy makers around the theme of “social responsibility within changing contexts.” From the conference website: ” As we enter the third decade of the 21st century, we see rapid changes in political, economic, environmental, cultural, and social spaces. Colleagues from Mathematica Policy Research will present findings from a randomized control trial evaluation, co-authored by R4D Senior Program Officer Arjun Upadhyay. The evaluation presents findings on community and parent engagement activities implemented as part of a major reading reform programming in Senegal launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Education and USAID to significantly improve early grade reading.

Albertha Nyaku is a recognized global nutrition leader with over 25 years of public health and nutrition experience supporting governments to strengthen systems in more than 20 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. She has worked extensively in Ghana, Cambodia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa and Nigeria. In addition to various roles with the Ghanaian Ministry of Health, Ms. Nyaku has also held key positions in various organizations including being technical advisor for the Alive and Thrive initiative at FHI360, Africa regional advisor for the USAID Infant and Young Child and Maternal Nutrition Project at PATH, senior nutrition advisor on the Maximizing the Quality of Scaling up Nutrition Project (MQSUN) at PATH and the nutrition team lead of the USAID Maternal and Child Survival Project.

Ms. Nyaku is the nutrition practice senior program director at Results for Development (R4D), where she oversees a diverse nutrition portfolio at the country, regional and global levels. She leads strategic development initiatives which delivers technical assistance emphasizing partnerships with local or regional institutions to facilitate and support country led change processes, promote regional learnings and technical support networks, and ensure that country and regional actors and evidence are prioritized or play a bigger role in global processes.

Throughout her career, Ms. Nyaku has supported countries build capacities of country change agents from government and civil society for the prevention and management of malnutrition.

Prior to R4D, Ms. Nyaku was the technical advisor with the Alive and Thrive Program at FHI360 where she worked with the Nigeria program to develop and launch the Start Strong behavior change communication program implemented in 11 states. Start Strong has since become a government national program being scaled up to other states. She also coordinated the USAID Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition Program in 12 African countries which resulted in the development and use of evidence-based approaches and tools for community and health facility-based nutrition services and strengthening of nutrition services in routine health systems.

Ms. Nyaku is currently a member of the American Society of Nutrition.

Ms. Nyaku holds a bachelor of arts degree in home science and sociology with the University of Ghana, and a public health graduate certificate with Tulane University, School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Inraini Fitria Syah has 20 years of experience working as a health professional with the Indonesian government, national and international non-governmental organizations. Her expertise includes maternal and neonatal health, project management and integrated health information system.

At Results for Development (R4D), Ms. Syah is a program officer providing direct health financing and strategic purchasing support to the SHP Indonesia portfolio with a focus on maternal and newborn health. Her work includes analytical and consultative activities in support of improving capacity for strategic health purchasing under the Indonesian national health insurance program.

Prior to joining R4D, Ms. Syah was a chief project officer in the Summit Institute of Development (SID) and led a team which implemented projects focusing on health and technology. These projects include: Technologies for Health Registers, Information, and Vital Events–Open Smart Register Platform (THRIVE-OpenSRP); Digital Tool for the Adoption of the World Health Organization’s Antenatal Care Recommendations user and field testing; Enhanced Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test Project with smart open reader digital platform; Knowledge Gateway by Online Knowledge Certification to improve midwives’ knowledge and healthcare quality through evaluation and training.

Ms. Syah also worked on Indonesia’s health insurance program for the poor and near-poor (JAMKESMAS) on the district level and as a certified midwife, led a community birthing center. She also led a team which won grants from Grand Challenge Canada (GCC) and Global Financing Facility (GFF) aiming to enhance the health system through utilization of on-time data and improve human resources capacity in the health sector.

Ms. Syah obtained a master’s degree in public health from Montclair State University where she received scholarships from USAID. She is a native speaker of Bahasa Indonesia and is fluent in English. Ms. Syah is part of the Alumni Association of Scholarship Program USA – Indonesia (ALPHA-I) management team.

Solomon Tesfaye is a senior program associate with Results for Development’s (R4D) evaluation and adaptive learning team. He provides programmatic and technical assistance to projects focusing on Increasing Access to Pneumonia Treatments in High-Burden Countries and Using Adaptive Learning to Integrate Social Protection for Improved Resilience in Ethiopia’s Highlands.

Prior to R4D, Mr. Tesfaye worked for 3 years in strategy consulting and market research for Fortune 500 companies. His work focused on understanding consumer and merchant behavior through quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Mr. Tesfaye also worked in the public sector. His work there includes expanding educational opportunities with the office of the Secretary of Higher Education in New Jersey, improving social protection programs with UNICEF, and preventing violent extremism in East Africa with Mercy Corps.

Mr. Tesfaye holds a master’s degree in public policy and international development from Princeton University and a BA in behavioral neuroscience from Colgate University. He speaks Amharic, Arabic, and English.
